Five months after the untimely death of its Co-founder Virgil Abloh, Off-White™ has made a power move in the fashion industry that few may have seen coming. The brand had been searching for someone to fill the role left behind by Abloh.

The news broke via Off-White™’s Instagram account, which posted an image of Kamara, along with the following caption: “Ibrahim’s relationship with Virgil and Off-White™ born and nurtured through DM messages on Instagram, blossomed both personally and professionally in the last three years creating a strong bond based on mutual respect and shared values. In the new role, he will further develop his influence and insight on the brand’s collections, image, and content.”

Kamara later took to the platform himself, writing, “Virgil will forever be with us. With me. He changed the world and left an indelible mark on anyone who encountered him and beyond. Generous with his time, mind and creativity—he saw everyone and created with all humans in mind. I am honoured to further link my ties to Off-White™ as their art and image director and be a part of the team that will tell the rest of the story Virgil started writing for us all.”

Kamara is based in London and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Dazed, a position he had taken on last year. The stylist had also served as the Fashion Editor of i-D previously. Kamara has worked across platforms and in fashion and media as a collaborator with some of the top brands including Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Labrum London and more. Kamara worked alongside Abloh, styling Off-White™ and Louis Vuitton fashion shows, lookbooks and campaigns.
