In a striking coming together of art, architecture, and fashion, QASIMI (Instagram) has unveiled its much-anticipated Autumn/Winter 2024 collection, aptly titled “CONFUSION AS PROTECTION.” This inventive line-up not only introduces fresh aesthetics, but also embeds deep cultural narratives and cutting-edge design philosophies, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s journey.

The AW24 collection showcases a ground breaking collaboration with New York-based visual artist Kambui Olujimi, whose expertise in watercolour painting brings a unique dimension to the collection. Drawing inspiration from “Razzle Dazzle,” a military camouflage technique, Olujimi introduces “Undergrowth,” an exclusive pattern that evolves his authentic watercolour style into a striking visual narrative. This pattern not only adorns the collection but also encapsulates its central theme of illusion and disguise.

Echoing the architectural preferences of QASIMI’s late founder, Brutalism heavily influences the collection’s aesthetic. Known for its raw and powerful expression through materials, Brutalism translates into the collection through robust and tactile fabrics shaped into exaggerated silhouettes. The colour palette—ranging from City Grey and Lilac Dust to Parchment and Dusky Green—beautifully complements the architectural underpinnings, providing a sophisticated backdrop to the bold designs.

This season, QASIMI redefines traditional attire by blending oversized proportions with hybrid materials. The result is an array of innovative pieces like bonded satin trench coats, tech wool cardigans, and waxed cotton bomber jackets. Camouflage elements introduce an element of surprise with upcycled leather and shimmering sequins, further enhancing the theme of disguise and deception.

Further expanding its creative horizon, QASIMI AW24 introduces a collaborative accessory line with Paris-based label ASWAD. This partnership springs from a mutual appreciation for contemporary art and shared Arab heritage, resulting in a collection of small leather goods that are both functional and nomadic in spirit. “I discovered a collection strongly inspired by a language that spoke to me: outerwear, sportswear, layering of elements and pockets,” says designer Sonia Ahmimou. “I appreciate the idea that one can wander with their home on their back.”

The QASIMI Autumn/Winter 2024 represents something of a protective layer that combines the toughness of Brutalist architecture with gorgeous design. Each piece guards the wearer through illusion, blending protective functionality with aesthetic appeal.

With its latest collection, QASIMI continues to speak to a young, audience that values both heritage and innovation in fashion. The Autumn/Winter 2024 line is a testament to the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining modern wear.
