Lacoste x A.P.C Collaborate to Create Playful Pieces

Parisian label A.P.C has looked far and wide to create for its high-profile collaboration series tilted INTERACTION for some time. The French house has invited Lacoste on a play date for its latest series iteration.

Since being named Artistic Director in 2018, Louis Trotter has brought a new wave of modern sophistication to the crocodile brand founded in 1933 by tennis star Rene Lacoste.

While this collection extends A.P.C’s INTERACTION series, it is also a continuation of Lacoste’s willingness to collaborate, allowing new visions and voices to reinterpret the archive. For this interaction, Trotter worked close with Jean and Judith Touitou, and the three designed playful pieces for men and women. The collaboration also sees a playful take on the famous crocodile as it encircles the A.P.C logo.

The classic Lacoste polo is reimagined in a slightly oversized version with patchwork construction. The collection mixes both brands’ identities, where essential sportswear pieces are combined with military references and sit beside 90s colours and volumes. Key pieces included a windbreaker in navy blue nylon, khaki gabardine, and signature A.P.C denim. While this collection is filled with each brand’s ethos, there are many other references to their identities.

Other pieces in the collection feature loose jeans, shirts, and polos with blue and layette pink stripes. The collection is completed with fleece pieces – joggers and sweatshirts – that feature playful integration of different logo versions created for the collaboration.

The collection is finished off with accessories, including sneakers, striped socks, denim bags, a giant tote bag, and an A.P.C Lacoste candle whose scent brings back memories of the path to the tennis courts in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris.
