A limited edition capsule collection, inspired by basketball and dedicated to this popular sport, has been added to the Fendi (Instagram) summer line. This twist in the house’s codes results in new objects of desire for this summer.

Displayed on May 25, the limited edition Fendi Active Basketball is available, while quantities last, in selected flagships of the brand. Fendi Active Basketball Capsule items are also available online in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Japan and China. The sportswear line includes jerseys, T-shirts, shorts and tracksuits made of lightweight technical fabrics. A line of basketball shoes, of course, is offered in black and ivory or, for the most exclusive model, in white enhanced with crystals.

In this collection, the codes of Fendi are mixed with those of basketball. The FF monogram, designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965, and the original Fendi Roma logo, are taken up in a varsity spirit  in sleek capital lettering. The technical lines of a basketball court adorn the pieces with lines and circles sewn in contrasting piping.

The world of sports, usually distinguished by its bright colours, is revisited with the strict elegance of black and gray that radically diverts the sports identity to a chic streetwear style.

Fendi

The house of Fendi has been getting closer to the world of basketball since its pre-fall 2020 collection. In a pandemic context, loose silhouettes in nylon satin and jersey rubbed shoulders with the brand’s classics for the first time, opening it up to the dominant streetwear culture enhanced by Fendi’s own codes.

Fendi will be the special guest of the upcoming Pitti Uomo, the leading fashion show for men. The Italian label from LVMH will be on parade on June 15 as part of the Pitti Uomo 104th Edition, taking place in Florence from June 13 to 16. The event will be held in the new leather goods production and research center, the Fendi Factory, in Capannuccia.
